Dear Parents and Students:
It is with great excitement that I welcome you and your student to Vista High School (VHS), Home of the Panthers! We are proud of the continuing traditions of academic excellence, rigorous standards, and high quality extracurricular activities. I are very pleased that you and your student will be joining the VHS Community!
Registration for the 2018-2019 school year begins soon. In order to ensure a smooth transition to VHS for you and your family, please carefully read the registration information below. I would like to encourage you to visit the VHS Counseling page and Course Catalog section to review the VHS Profile, graduation requirements, course descriptions, and learn more about our educational programs at VHS.
In the registration packet, please see the new bell schedule, which includes late start Mondays (8:30 a.m. start time); Periods 1-6 on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays; and Block Period Wednesdays (Periods 1-3-5) and Thursdays (Periods 2-4-6).
During the registration process, you will pick up your class schedule, have your picture taken for the yearbook and receive your new photo ID card. You will have the opportunity to purchase a yearbook, ASB card, and Physical Education clothing. We expect every student to complete the registration process and be ready for school to begin at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 15, 2018.
During registration, it may be necessary to make adjustments to your class schedule. Schedules that warrant an adjustment will be those that are inaccurate, missing course periods, or assigned a course that the student has already taken. Any other academic course changes, or dropping from an honors level to a college prep level course will require a parent signature. Directions for schedule changes can be found through the counseling page, here.
The first day of school is on Wednesday, August 15, 2018. Students will pick up their locater cards from 7:30-8:20 a.m. in designated areas on campus. Period 1 will start promptly at 8:30 a.m. Please review the registration information and be prepared to complete the registration process. Our office staff will be available starting Wednesday, August 1, 2018. If you have any questions, please call the main office, starting August 1, 2018, between 7:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. weekdays at (760) 726-5611.
Note: Students who miss registration dates may pick up their course schedule, turn in all forms, and receive an ID in the Nurse’s Office at 7:00 a.m. on August 15, 2018.
