College Search Tool

 

Use this tool by signing into CaliforniaColleges.edu (using your VUSD Student Google Account) to look for colleges that match your interests and career goals. Go to the College tab and then click on the College Search Tool link under the College Options section.

Types of 4-year Applications

 

CSU System

Apply to any of the 23 California State University campuses. One application for all 23 campuses. At the end of the application, you will select which of the 23 universities you want to apply to and what major(s) you will be applying into. Our closest CSU is Cal State San Marcos in San Marcos, CA (for which you can get guaranteed acceptance through the WAVE pact). 

  • Opens: October 1st
  • Closes: November 30th
  • Requirements: Meet all of the A-G requirements, 2.5 GPA, and a high school diploma

 

UC System

Apply to any of the 9 University of California campuses. One application for all 9 universities. At the end of the application, you select which of the 9 campuses you want to apply to and what major(s) you will be applying into. Our closest UC is UC San Diego in La Jolla, CA.

 

  • Opens: August 1st
  • Closes: November 30th
  • Requirements: Meet all of the A-G requirements, 3.0 GPA, a high school diploma, and complete 4 of the 8 personal insight questions

Common Application

Apply to any private, out-of-state, or ivy-league schools. Make sure you check out the website and the list of colleges and universities to see if the school you want to apply to is listed. 

  • Opens: Applications vary by school
  • Closes: Vary by school, but try to get them done before Winter Break! 
  • Requirements: High School diploma and essays (which vary by school)

 

Common Black Application

Apply to any private, out-of-state Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU's). Some of these universities are very rigorous and have small class sizes, so make sure you research each of the schools listed here. You do not need to identify as Black or African American to apply. 

  • Opens: Applications vary by school
  • Closes: Vary by school, but try to get them done before Winter Break! 
  • Requirements: High School diploma and essays (which vary by school)

 

College Entrance Tests (NOT required for UC's and CSU's)

NOTE: Some scholarships may still require you to submit you SAT/ACT scores. Most universities accept both test scores.
